Marveling from the Pink Forest. Story 1. Pink Magic.
10 stories from the life of Baby Marveling, who invariably finds support in his Mama Marvelena and the magic Bouroumbo tree.
Any author of children’s books could have come up with this in any country, so it would seem there’s nothing extraordinary here. If it were not for one quite remarkable thing. All of the characters have been conceived and their lives narrated by a 3-year-old Belarusian girl, whereas her mom wrote it down and processed it. The amazing result is this book.
LENA: “Normally adults tell stories to children. It was the other way round in our family. Growing up, I was writing poetry and short stories, dreaming of a life in literature. But I had to refocus: I discovered marketing and made a successful career. And then a wonderful girl came flying into my life — my daughter Varya. At the age of two, Varya started calling herself Marveling, and me — Mommy Marvelena. She kept making things up and talking incessantly. One day I decided it was time to write them all down. Because I believe that children can see and hear what we, adults, are unable to perceive. If Varya was telling me this, then not by chance.”
VARYA: "Pink magic, happen!"
